"The puzzle takes the form of a car!"

Notes:

  • The plastic pieces from the dash have been re-chromed and put where they belong.

  • Step two of the valve covers has been completed (ridges and such have been polished).  The next steps are: Taping off the polished areas.  Degreasing & painting with high-heat white.  Painting Pontiac Engine Blue (to match the block).  Removing the tape and giving the polished areas a quick "once over".  Spraying with high heat clear (so the polished areas are protected).

  • After the the valve covers polished up so well (and a small piece of stainless molding that was accidentally media blasted), we decided to remove the molding around the windshield and back glass and I will get them polished up.  I took a few pictures of the car with the molding still on.

  • The trunk is speckle-painted.  I have a concern or two and will address them with Joe.

  • The fenders have been put on, but not adjusted, or tightened down.

  • The air cleaner I put on is just to protect the carb from dirt/dust.  I bought for the engine originally in 1990, but I don't plan on using it.  I have one in mind, but it's kind of expensive, so I'm holding off on it right now (waiting for the dust to clear... literally!).

  • The inside door frame will be painted black before the door panels are put on.

  • I figured that I would take a few pictures of the rear quarters... Look ma, no dents!

  • Joe painted the gas tank silver/aluminum.  The tank straps are stainless steel.

  • I'm not sure if I mentioned this before...  I know the beauty rings on the rims are incorrect, I have purchased the correct ones (new in 2004).

What is hopefully going to be accomplished in the next couple of days:

  • I'm going to paint the valve covers and clean up other miscellaneous parts.

  • I'll be going out to visit the car this Tuesday (4-4-06), I'll be helping Joe with a few other things.  It's possible (keeping my fingers crossed) that we will try to start the car.  We'll see what happens...
