A note to the
wise... Primer-sealer was not used because the car was not going
to sitting long enough to require it. Wrong answer! Since
Primer-fill was used for the blocking process and there was never any
intention of the car sitting so long, surface rust started coming
in. On the plus side, now we know what areas were going to
become problem areas and they can be addressed now.
-
Taking a step back...
Obviously the surface rust needs to be taken care of, so the next step
is for Joe to blast those areas and re-prime them.
What is hopefully going to be
accomplished in the next two weeks:
-
Joe will be working in the
rust issue.
-
Since the summer is over,
I'm going to take the hit on all of the work I put into the dash and
ship it to California to be redone (vinyl/padding). I wasn't too
happy with the dash cover. It looked Ok, but the vents and
gauges really showed that it was a cover.
-
I've got a line on a '69
parts car with dash vents that are in really good shape, so hopefully
I'll be able to get those. If I'm able to get those, while the
dash is gone (10 to 12 weeks), I'll get all of the vents re-plated and
ready to go.
-
I won't be available to
check on the car the weekend of 10-8-05...
